Sexy Numbers

I was showing Ben the blogsite over the weekend. We started this site six weeks ago and it’s looking good. Before we had to travel, I scheduled a bunch of posts in advance – The Sex Sells Series, The Raspberry Rippling Series, and some Song Lyric Sunday posts. But I have managed to figure out where I can hook up to an internet connection and so I have kept up with some of the other blogging link parties other bloggers host.

When I showed Ben the graph in the statistics page, he noticed a week when the figures dropped. That was just after we arrived here and I could not check out anyone else’s posts. I have a friend who blogs and she told me that blogging is not just about writing your own stuff, it’s about reading and supporting other bloggers – so sorry about that week guys. I knew I would have trouble getting myself online.

But we will forget about that. We were more impressed by some very sexy numbers. Likes, comments, follows – awesome. But what is even sexier is views! One of our posts had ten likes and almost eighty views. What does that mean? Does it mean that there are lots of secretive literotica readers who don’t want to leave their calling card? How sexy is this mystery? Every post has way more views than it has likes. Perhaps there are lots of mysterious men reading these posts and getting hard? Who knows?

Anyway…thank you all for your support!!! We’re having fun. We hope you are having fun. The numbers are real sexy. We have lots more for you already scheduled. But I am always looking at the prompts too and thinking about how else we can entertain you. Doh! Ben just asked me why I keep saying “we” when it is me doing the writing. I could not do this without Ben’s input. Plus for it to be sexy and fun, I want to do it with him rather than without. It’s like masturbation…so boring compared to real foreplay and sex.

I recently had a similar realisation! I get lots of views in a day but hardly any comments and even less likes. I was completely paranoid that people were reading my posts but that they weren’t to their liking or they were falling short somehow. One of the other bloggers very kindly explained it all to me, he said people who don’t have an account on WP can’t comment or like without leaving an email address and name, most people don’t want to do that, so they show up as views. I tend to judge the success of my posts by how many views it has received now! Happy blogging, loving your stories! x

Thank you gorgeous! โค

I think you are right, the views say more really. It says there are a lot of people enjoying your work, just are a little too shy or not already linked up to WordPress. But it is so sexy to think of all those mystery viewers.

Also, there are a couple of times a year when stats drop for seemingly no reason. Holidays like Christmas and vacation times like the summer( the fourth of July forsure and August (most take vacation during this month in the UK))A few weeks back to the norm in September, things pick up once again. Don’t let the numbers cause you stress, they’re just stats, but if you’re wanting to up your numbers, promote on Twitter and the like. As well Tuesdays are low days, Saturdays the highest for shares ๐Ÿ™‚

That makes a lotta sense.
I am still trying to explore all the little features and widgets, I really have no clue what a lot of it is for. But the stats page is pretty cool. I think the big kick we got out of it is the idea of there being so many mystery viewers presumably reading in secret.
I don’t do Twitter. Ben had a Twitter account but he does not use it anymore, but I think he would be reluctant to put our blogging stuff on his Twitter. His mom and dad might see it!

I only use Twitter for my site. It’s too much for me in the vanilla world. Haha. But it is a great resource ๐Ÿ™‚
Blogging takes a bit of time to learn the ropes. I’m still trying to figure out the basics. If you need assistance check out blogable.com and send the ladies a message with your inquiry.
You can also check out smutlancer (but you’ll likely get a reply faster from blog able)

Good post and great advice in the comments section. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sometimes a look without a like will come about because of having to break away mid-post and return to finish it also. That happened to me twice with your posts actually.

Stats are a VERY mixed bag on WordPress to be honest. My main blog has nearly 600 followers, but a fairly low like and look count. Partly because I ramble about anything non-kinky there, (having a niche topic helps). Also partly because you’ll discover there are alot of fakes out there that treat WP like twitter and only want to trade likes without ever even reading content.

Now my kinky blog only has 32 followers, but I’ve been neglecting it also.

The best advice I can offer is stay true to yourself and what YOU like to write about. Don’t worry if breast play might not be popular with some. Write from your heart (and loins ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) and you’ll create posts that are more real than most of what is on WordPress and build followers also. The stats; they’re nice but they don’t mean that much in the grand scheme of things. ๐Ÿ™‚

Do you have two separate sites?

I don’t wanna get hung up about the numbers either. I think some of the people who have followed this site are a but random. When we looked at their sites, some of them seemed to be commercial business orientated and we did not follow them back because we had no interest in reading their posts. We have followed lots of sites but we try to stick with those writing erotica or romance. We also love following some very creative people who write in lots of different genres, but give us inspiration by their style of writing.

I do want to write more about ABF and I am sure I will. But for now, I need to concentrate on the third novella. Ben set me a date to publish it and we are getting closer and closer.

Goals and deadlines are important for getting writing done BUT rushing to make them absolute CAN lead to an unpolished product. Keep at it and release it when it’s right. Even if it means a spanking or two. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh yes, the other site was originally what this was supposed to be, but I wandered off on all manner of tangents and attracted people that were a bit squeamish about naughty stories, so I spun this off from it.

Just search for SilkCordsBlog of you want to see me tackle anything from cooking to the California wildfires.

Are you Silk Chatters…I just read about your Monte Cristo sandwich!

With regards the deadline….you see this is what happens when your lover knows people and how to motivate them. Ben knows that I work better under pressure. He knows I procrastinate lengthy time consuming projects and prefer to do lots and lots of little tasks first. Sitting down to finish the novella is eating up time I wanna be doing other things. Not so much the writing, it’s the editing that is a chore. Ben has to find ways to motivate me. The deadline definitely helps. Spanking….well, spanking will definitely motivate me in regards to making love to Ben, I am not sure it will motivate me to sit at my desk and get back to editing.

Ben wants me to finish the third novella because I have already started on our fourth novella. He said finish one and get it published and then concentrate on the next one.

Silk Cords there also (without the “The” lol), I just changed the name of the blog to Silk Chatters when I created this one. ๐Ÿ™‚ Seems to fit given the amount of rambling I do there.

The novella… I’m sure you’ll get it done. One project at a time does tend to work best also. That said, I do tend to bounce between pieces when I’m really stuck on something and can’t break through.
