SLS – Lover

There was only one song I wanted to pick today for Song Lyric Sunday, but I know I have used it a lot on my blog, and will probably use it again and again. (In case it is not obvious – I’m talking about Taylor Swift’s “Lover“.) I’m thinking that someone else is going to feature TayTay?

I picked a song from one of the people who helped us hold it together this year – the luscious Lady Gaga! She was in a movie a couple of years ago (“A Star Is Born“) and we all gaped at the real Lady Gaga – without all of her stage make-up. We have had a deeper admiration for ever since and she just keeps growing on us.

I think she is a very worthy choice for lots of reasons. This is a song from the movie which she brings to life with her voice. It is called “Always Remember Us This Way“.

Natalie Hemby, Lori Mckenna, Stefani Germanotta and Hillary Lindsey wrote the lyrics.

That Arizona sky burning in your eyes
You look at me and, babe, I wanna catch on fire
It’s buried in my soul like California gold
You found the light in me that I couldn’t find

So when I’m all choked up
But I can’t find the words
Every time we say goodbye
Baby, it hurts
When the sun goes down
And the band won’t play
I’ll always remember us this way

Lovers in the night
Poets trying to write
We don’t know how to rhyme
But damn we try
But all I really know
You’re where I wanna go
The part of me that’s you will never die

So when I’m all choked up
But I can’t find the words
Every time we say goodbye
Baby, it hurts
When the sun goes down
And the band won’t play
I’ll always remember us this way

Oh, yeah
I don’t wanna be just a memory, baby, yeah

So when I’m all choked up
But I can’t find the words
Every time we say goodbye
Baby, it hurts
When the sun goes down
And the band won’t play
I’ll always remember us this way, oh, yeah

When you look at me
And the whole world fades
I’ll always remember us this way
