The Sex Sells has been an interesting an at times scary journey through the world of marketing. So many times I have wondered what on earth was going on in the minds of the marketing team who put these adverts together. This week I have a series of adverts that illustrates how sometimes the makers of commercials can just get it so wrong!!
The iconic Cadbury’s Flake has been around for as long as anyone can remember. My association with it is the ice-creams you can buy from mobile vans. But for some reason Cadburys have decided to pimp up the flake, giving it a naughty nibble connotation in their commercials. I could not decided which advert to choose to exhibit the general feel of their marketing campaigns over the course of many years.
At the end of the series is a commercial that did not fit the Cadbury’s Flake concept, and I have to admit that I am glad it was rejected – it would have given me nightmares as a child!
But even the marketing team for Cadbury’s Flake have their standards. This commercial was just too much for them. It is pretty scary I have to admit.
